#19 A Weekend Well Spent.
A weekly recommendations newsletter featuring my London faves and some things I'm loving that week.
The Easter bank holiday weekend arrived like a breath of fresh air. I always feel a sweet kind of relief when it rolls around. Maybe it’s the two extra days off (if you are so fortunate), or maybe it’s the way it seems to mark the beginning of the very best of what’s to come: fresh flavours, fewer layers, and those sunny afternoons that feel like they just might last forever.
Caffinating
I caught up with an old work friend at Katsute100 in Angel. Besides the fact that I managed to spill our drinks all over myself, it was quite lovely. The backroom is particularly cosy as it gets gorgeous morning sunlight. I opted for a hojicha flat white, which I really liked.
Eating
Miga in Hackney has been on my list since it opened. I had to make a reservation a month in advance, but it was well worth the wait. I went with my angel friend, Nellie, and we had a beautiful meal. The service is wonderful, the team was so warm and personable (not to mention impeccably dressed), and the interiors were so lovely. Lots of mahogany wood and a stunning open kitchen. The real standout was, of course, the food; It was so excellent. We shared the sweet potato glass noodles and the mung bean pancake to start. Both were phenomenal, but if I had to choose a favourite, it would be the glass noodles. They are a must-order if they are on the menu. For my main, I had an amazing sliced raw fish rice dish. The fish was so fresh, and the chojang sauce it came with was rich and delicious. Perfection.
We’re bringing back the millennial fave of avocado toast with poached eggs in our house for a fun weekend breakfast.
Wearing
Speaking of my angel friend Nellie, she very kindly passed on to me the most perfect trousers from Stella Egelja, and I have basically worn them every day since.

Shopping
I stumbled upon Haut Vintage’s store on Camden Passage after my ballet class. It’s a sweet little space with a nice curation. I exercised some serious restraint and left the cute black leather shoulder bag I was eyeing up, but did pick up an adorable golden fish pin.
Drinking
The sun came out on Saturday and demanded that we enjoy it with a bev. It started with a chilled red at Cafe Kick and ended with a Verdita at Bambi.
Making
Small batch jam! My old faithful. I went for a classic strawberry but with black pepper and vanilla.

Reading
I stopped by Libraria last week and picked up American Mother, co-written by Diane Foley and Colum McCann. It’s an unsettling but moving narrative of a, or I should say many, horrific real-life events. There’s a lot that can be taken from this story, but the thing that's been sitting on my heart since is simply a reinforcement of knowing just how important the work is that journalists in conflict zones do. Without them, we live in darkness to the truth.
That’s it for this week x
