#24 A Weekend Well Spent.
A weekly recommendations newsletter featuring my London faves and some things I'm loving that week.
Walking is one of the greatest loves of my life. Specifically, walking in a city. It’s how I experience the world around me and a way that I feel a part of it. I find it meditative, grounding, and it’s the best tool I have when I need to come back to myself. It’s healing. To me, at least. I think it’s in the forward movement of it. The literal motion of walking forward feels like a gentle reminder to my brain that I’m here; the world is moving, and so am I. That I am never truly stuck.
I haven’t been making enough time to get out and walk these past few months, but this weekend I dedicated a full day to wandering around London and my heart has been bursting at the seams since. No stroll is complete without a few good pit stops along the way and this week’s newsletter has some of my faves from this weekend’s outing:
Coffee
I met Nellie at Fink’s Pump House in Clissold Park, which is turning into one of our regular spots to hang. We chat, we laugh, we look at the cute dogs. It’s fabulous, really. This time, I opted for a lemonade and a peanut butter cookie, but Fink’s has great coffee and does an excellent sandwich.
Doing
I stopped into far too many shops for a browse to list them all, but some honorable mentions are: the Oxfam Charity shop in Victoria Park Village (had some great design books in), Turn (a really thoughtful curation of beautifully made things), and Superette (posh groceries, which is always fun).

Josh and I went for an early booking on Sunday morning to see the José María Velasco exhibition at the National Gallery, and it was the perfect start to the day. It was a wonderful exhibition. I think Velasco’s paintings are incredible and so rich in detail. They mostly depicted breathtakingly beautiful Mexican landscapes, and they captured the relationship between nature and humans in an almost geographical way at times.

Eating
We wandered up into Soho after the gallery and had the breakfast bap and creamy cappuccino of dreams from Bar Italia – quite possibly one of the best people-watching spots in town.

Making
I think I might have discovered my favourite ever sandwich. I’ve been making Molly Baz’s Niçoise Sando from Cook This Book almost weekly, and it’s phenomenal.
That’s it for this weekend! x
I love Bar Italia!
